The people behind the process
Every coach at KYLO brings more than credentials. We bring lived experience — with the frustration of programs that don't work, with the gap between what conventional medicine offers and what women actually need, and with what it takes to rebuild from the inside out.
David Pegram
Founder · Head Coach
"I spent years helping women train harder and eat better — and watching it stop working. That failure led me to the real answers."
David's career began in personal training and fitness instruction. He was good at what he did. But he kept encountering the same pattern: disciplined women doing everything right and getting nowhere. Harder wasn't the answer. More restriction wasn't the answer. Something else was happening inside their bodies that no program was addressing.
That kept him studying — female physiology specifically, at a level most fitness professionals never reach. The internal systems that govern how a woman's body responds to stress, food, and training as she moves through her 40s and 50s. The more he learned, the clearer it became: the problem was never discipline. It was biology that no one had investigated. That realization became the foundation of the Functional Reset Method.
David is also in recovery — sober, and someone who navigated years of binge eating while working through that process. That experience shapes how he coaches. He meets women where they are, without judgment, because he has been somewhere complicated too, and made it to the other side.
Shannon Bumpus
Functional Hormone Specialist
"I know what it feels like to have your body turn on you — and to be told your labs look fine."
Shannon's path to functional health coaching wasn't academic — it was personal. She experienced firsthand what many of KYLO's clients describe when they arrive: unexplained hair loss, persistent bloating, hormonal acne, and a physical weakness that made no sense given how she was living. Her labs came back unremarkable. Her doctors had no answers.
Determined to understand what was happening in her own body, Shannon went looking for answers beyond conventional medicine. She discovered the connection between gut health, hormone signaling, and the cascade of symptoms that had been dismissed as normal or stress-related. What she found changed everything — and eventually led her to build a practice around helping other women navigate the same terrain.
Shannon joined KYLO because the Functional Reset Method reflected exactly the approach that had worked for her and her clients: start with the biology, address the root cause, and stop guessing. Her specialization in hormonal health and metabolic support means she brings a depth of personal and professional understanding to every client she works with.
Nathalie Carvalho
Education and Curriculum Lead
"Real change requires being heard completely — not managed efficiently. That is the standard we hold ourselves to."
Nathalie holds a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University. That foundation shapes everything about how she works — and how KYLO's coaching methodology was built. She didn't just contribute to the curriculum. She helped architect the approach itself: the deep listening, the refusal to do anything extreme, the commitment to treating each client as a whole person rather than a set of metrics to optimize.
Her clinical background gives her a lens that most health coaching programs don't have access to. She understands the psychological weight of chronic health struggles — the erosion of self-trust that comes from years of trying and not seeing results, the relationship between stress and physical symptoms, and the difference between compliance and genuine readiness to change. These aren't soft considerations at KYLO. They are core to the method.
Nathalie's work ensures that the Functional Reset Method never becomes purely transactional. Every client is assessed as a complete picture — her history, her psychology, her life — not just her labs. She holds the standard that this program was built around: comprehensive coaching that goes as deep as the person in front of you needs it to go.
"A woman's body in her 40s and 50s doesn't respond the same way it did a decade ago. No amount of stricter dieting or harder training changes that. When hormones shift, autoimmune conditions emerge, or the internal environment changes, the approach has to change with it. KYLO operates with a limited client roster by design, because precision requires it. Generic programs fail most women not from lack of effort, but lack of specificity. When one of our few spots opens, it goes to a woman who's done chasing the wrong answers."
